Ideas and Activities for International Dot Day | 15th September

Ideas and Activities for International Dot Day which will take place on 15th September.

Dot Day is a day for arts and creativity which is celebrated at schools around the world. The day was inspired by the fantastic book by Peter H. Reynolds which tells the story of a young student who doesn’t believe she can draw and a wonderfully encouraging teacher who helps her realise her potential. You can watch the video below to learn more.

Dot Day Art

There are plenty of art activities you can do on dot day, drawing dots with pencils, painting dots, small dots, big dots, giant dots, using recycle paper, magazines and materials to cut them out and arrange creatively.

If you are doing an activity with a group of students, it is great to then have each child add their dot to a display wall and then all participants can enjoy having contributed to a community art installation.

Children can also dress up wearing colourful clothing with dots or spots on this day to inspire their creativity!
